Botox in Bangkok: Everything you need to know!

Botox is possibly the most popular injectable treatment that we perform at SKNN Clinic Bangkok. Botox is primarily used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face. It is made from botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that blocks nerve signals to the muscles. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it causes the muscle to relax, which can soften the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

What areas can Botox be used to treat?

Botox can be used to treat a variety of areas on the face, including:

  • Forehead wrinkles

  • Frown lines

  • Crow's feet

  • Gummy smile

  • Bunny lines

  • Masseter

  • Chin dimpling

  • Marionette lines

  • Downturned smile

  • Neck lines

Xeomin Botox was used to treat forehead wrinkles at SKNN Clinic Bangkok.

How often should you get Botox?

The effects of Botox depend largely on the brand of Botox you use, for example, Nabota, a premium brand from South Korea, typically lasts 3 – 4 months, whereas Xeomin, a premium brand from Germany lasts up to 8 months. Generally speaking, most people get Botox injections every 3-5 months. However, the frequency of injections may vary depending on the individual's metabolism and desired results.

How soon can results be seen?

You can start to see results from Botox injections within a few days, but it may take up to 2 weeks to see the full results. After 2 weeks we invite all of our clients to come back to SKNN Clinic for a follow-up and touch-up if needed.

What to do before a Botox appointment

Here are some things you should do before your Botox appointment:

  • Avoid taking blood thinners, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for at least 1 week before your appointment.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Stop using any topical products that contain retinol or vitamin C for at least 3 days before your appointment.

  • If possible, arrive at your appointment without make-up. However, if you’re coming straight from the office, we have make-up remover!

Here’s a hot tip – taking Zinc supplements helps to make your Botox last longer!

What to expect at a Botox appointment at SKNN Clinic Bangkok

Every appointment begins with a consultation with our doctor to assess your skin and discuss your concerns. The nurse will then cleanse your face before the doctor marks the injection sites. At SKNN Clinic Bangkok, we use premium needles that are very thin to ensure a comfortable experience for our clients. During the procedure, the nurse will also apply an ice pack to the face. Most people find Botox injections relatively pain-free and quick.

Botox aftercare

After your Botox appointment, you should avoid touching or rubbing your face for at least 4 hours. We advise clients not to lie down for at least 6 hours. You should also avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to extreme heat or cold for at least 24 hours.

There may be some bruising and swelling around the injection sites but this should subside very quickly. You can apply an ice pack after treatment to soothe the area.

You can go back to your normal skincare and make-up routine the next day
